Deadpool Movie Review – An Anti-hero Super Film

Wade Wilson, the famous “merc with a mouth” – and this time he actually has a mouth, at last. Mr Pool’s sassy back-chatting and shit-talking is what made the reinvented Deadpool one of the funniest films I have seen in a long time.

Without giving away any spoilers, this is a perfect film for not just Marvel or other superhero fans, but anyone who enjoys a good comedy or action. I’ve heard people who have absolutely zero interest in Marvel or any other superhero films who totally loved it. I saw it four days ago and I still can’t stop thinking about it, quoting lines from it and I already need to see it again.

I don’t want to talk about the plot too much as I don’t want to ruin it for people who are yet to see it – but if you’re even contemplating seeing this film, DO. This is a film you can’t wait to see it on DVD, go and see it NOW. The comedy is on point, it’s shot perfectly and the narrative is told amazingly and it keeps you interested for the duration. Ryan Reynolds is also super impressive and really brings the character to life, nailing every single joke every single time.

The meta-humour in particular is what made Deadpool so hilarious for me. It pokes fun at previous films and heroes such as Wolverine and The X Men - with a special appearance from two of Xavier's Gifted Youngsters. This film knows that it's a film, and it knows exactly what it's audience came to see. If you've already seen the trailer you'll have noted Wilson's hilarious fourth-wall breaks that not only move the story along, but do so while making everyone fall on the floor.

Overall, you can probably tell that this film is a solid 10/10. It also has some seriously strong female characters, which is an added bonus in my books. And the soundtrack is A+
